The Colebrook Area Historical Society is a volunteer organization with the goals of promoting and preserving the history of the greater Colebrook Area. The Society was founded in 1992 and has been kept running with a core group of supporters. The Town Hall Museum was opened in May 1995 and has flourished since that date. A bi-annual newsletter was established in 2005. In July 2011, the Society added a second museum location in the newly completed Tillotson Center. The museums house approximately 15,000 artifacts including fine arts, folk arts, costuming, textiles, manufactured goods, household goods, and more, all of which are connected to local history.
